At Bumbles we have Hayley from Pat-a-Cake music holding sessions for our under 2's. Pat-a-Cake is a friendly and relaxed music class that includes all the catchy songs children love alongside the traditional rhymes that we've all grown up with. The classes give adults and children the opportunity to discover songs and instruments and start making music together.
The backing tracks and musical accompaniments are created especially for Pat-a-cake Music and cover a variety of musical styles. The classes are educational and social. Pat-a-Cake is also available at various venues around Leeds, click here to view Hayley's website.
Zoe, our Language Learners teacher develops small structured French classes which are planned carefully each week. For aged 0-3 years the sessions are a mix of fun, interactive language based activities, designed for babies and toddlers.
The sessions are about exposing toddlers to the language through exploration & play. Babies and Toddlers will learn via a combination of sounds and activities delivered through action songs, rhymes, stories, role play and fun craft activities. Most importantly the toddlers will learn at their own pace. Parent/Carer participation is important. Not only do they become involved, babies and toddlers become more confident and less inhibited; a great 'social' occasion as well as opportunity for Parents/Carers to explore & learn as well.
The programme concentrates on concepts the toddler is already familiar with in everyday life, covering 14 topics. Therefore he or she is not learning a new concept with a new language but a new language while doing or talking about something they know.
For children aged 3 to preschool age we teach a unique programme developed specifically for this young age group based around 2 lovely fun characters: Matou and Tounette (French Programme) and Milo and Mapi (Spanish Programme).
Learning a foreign language in nursery is fun, revolving around games, songs and rhymes, without any pressure. The more fun it is, the more children will acquire without realising and take it in their stride. Early foreign language learning can reinforce literacy skills and nurture enthusiasm. Language development is at its most rapid at this age group. Language learning comes easily to the very young, stimulating their imagination. For more information please click here.
Dance teacher Beth teaches Melody Bear/ Movement to our 2-3 year olds. Melody Movement introduces children to dance and movement using the natural actions of the body such as running, walking,
jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping. It is structured to aid children’s physical development, coordination, spatial awareness, sensory development, creativity and
Melody Movement also introduces children to other fundamental curriculum learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills. The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is enjoyable and fun. Melody Movement provides every child with the opportunity to discover and fulfil their own potential whilst nurturing creative development.
When Melody Bear and her friends first started to help children to enjoy dance, teachers and practitioners were using the frameworks Birth to Three Matters and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Since September 2008, teachers have used the EYFS which covers children from birth to 5 years. This has given us exciting ways to look at how we can work with Melody Bear to provide high quality experiences for children.
